Michigan Democratic Party Announces New Spokesperson to Focus on Race for Governor

LANSING — The Michigan Democratic Party is expanding its communications team for 2018, adding Sam Newton as a spokesperson who will focus on the race for Michigan governor.

“We’re excited to ramp up our team to hold the self-serving Republicans running for governor accountable,” said Michigan Democratic Party Chair Brandon Dillon. “Now more than ever, Michigan Democrats are dedicated to fighting the special interests to bring change to Lansing and protect the everyday priorities of Michigan’s working families.”

Prior to joining the Michigan Democratic Party, Newton was the press secretary of the Missouri Democratic Party. Previously, he was the communications director on a targeted congressional race in Western New York and deputy communications director at the Motion Picture Association of America.
