MDP Statement on Retirement of Congressman Sandy Levin

LANSING — The Michigan Democratic Party issued the following statement today, on behalf of Party Chair Brandon Dillon, regarding the announcement that Congressman Sander Levin (D-MI 9th District) will retire following his 18th term in the U.S. House of Representatives:

“Congressman Sandy Levin’s work for his district and our state has improved the lives of all Michiganders — Democrat, Republican, Independent, or no label at all. His has been a life dedicated to public service and serving as a champion for working and middle-class families. Sandy Levin has spent his entire career leading on trade issues to protect Michigan workers, working to grow American manufacturing and jobs, and fighting for better healthcare, a fairer tax code, education, the environment, and a society and system of government that is more open, equal, and honest so that everyone, no matter their tax bracket or the one they were born into, gets a shot at the American Dream. We thank Congressman Levin for his decades of service and wish him well in this next chapter.”
