Strong Democratic Results Across Michigan Highlighted By Cambensy Win in 109th HD

LANSING — The Michigan Democratic Party issued the following statement this evening, on behalf of Party Chair Brandon Dillon, regarding the results of today’s elections in Michigan:

“In the first true barometer of 2018 for Michigan, Democrat Sara Cambensy won a decisive victory in a district that went for Donald Trump by a significant margin only last year. It’s clear voters in the 109th, along with their fellow citizens throughout Michigan, are looking for honest leaders with a positive vision after experiencing one long, divisive year of Donald Trump and seven years of failed Republican leadership, broken promises, and cover-ups under Rick Snyder, Brian Calley, and Bill Schuette.

“From city council to state representative, congratulations to all of our progressive candidates who won today. The results we’re seeing, not only at the ballot box but from the passion and energy being put forward by folks on the ground these past few months, has been nothing short of inspiring. It’s a testament to the organizing we’re doing at the grassroots level, none of which would be possible without our local parties and allied progressive groups across the state.

“Thank you to our local party leaders, volunteers, staff, and allies for all of their hard work. This is only the beginning, and we need to continue mobilizing, organizing, and talking with voters in all 83 counties in Michigan. Every vote matters, from Muskegon to Marquette back down to Macomb, and Democrats are going to fight for every single one of them from now through November 2018 and every day and every election that follows.”
