MDP Statement on Pence Michigan Visit

LANSING — The Michigan Democratic Party issued the following statement, on behalf of Party Chair Brandon Dillon, outlining Vice President Mike Pence’s anti-Michigan track record, ahead of his stops in Detroit and Southfield today, including his opposition to saving the auto industry from collapse:

“When Michigan’s economy and millions of jobs were on the line, Mike Pence not only failed to act, he was one of the loudest voices in the Republican “Let Detroit Go Bankrupt” choir. Thankfully, for the hardworking men and women throughout Michigan, Mike Pence and other anti-auto industry Republicans, like his boss Donald Trump, weren’t in charge when the decision was made to rescue the heart and soul of our state’s economy. Mike Pence and the Trump Administration have made it clear they will break any promise, attack any organization, industry, or individual, and completely abandon the hardworking people of Michigan, as long as it benefits them politically or Betsy DeVos financially. Michigan Republicans, like Bill Schuette and Mike Bishop, should think twice about cozying up to someone so openly hostile to Michigan workers and business.”
