LANSING — The Michigan Democratic Party issued the following statement today, on behalf of Party Chair Brandon Dillon, in advance of Governor Rick Snyder’s final State of the State Address this evening:

“For the last 7 years, Rick Snyder, Brian Calley, and Bill Schuette have formed an Axis of Failure in Lansing, holding Michigan back economically, clouding our future, and leaving the most vulnerable among us exposed to poison and abuse. But that ends in 2018, and his final State of the State serves as a symbolic end to the negligence, broken promises, and failures that have plagued Michigan under the failed leadership of Rick Snyder and his enabler allies in government, Brian Calley and Bill Schuette. It’s time for Michigan to close the book on Snyder, Calley, and Schuette and move forward with the kind of real leadership that puts the people of our state back in the driver’s seat.

“Michigan Republicans, as a whole, falsely believe they are no longer accountable to voters after spending the Snyder, Calley, Schuette years stacking the deck in both their personal and political party’s favor with giveaways to corporations and Betsy DeVos and continued attacks on education and voting rights. And while Rick Snyder likely just wants the nightmare to end, Republicans like Bill Schuette and Brian Calley are in for a rude awakening on November 6, 2018, when Michigan voters and Democratic candidates throughout our state cut the cards and choose to build a state that once again works for the many, not a wealthy, privileged few.”
